Timothy R.J. Mehrtens

Tim’s practice has focused on large asset divorce cases, with specific expertise in business valuation analysis and understanding of complex asset division. His expertise also includes asserting and defending against common law marriage claims. Tim’s main focus is to settle his client’s cases, and in most cases, does so. However, if litigation is necessary, he has the experience and skills necessary in the courtroom. Tim has litigated cases in most jurisdictions in the State of Colorado and has the tools and expertise necessary to guide his clients to resolutions that are in their and their children’s best interest.

Tim recently added mediation to his practice emphasis. With 30 years of experience, he brings knowledge and compassion to the table in a way that gives parties the confidence and understanding necessary to successfully settle their cases.

Tim is a frequent lecturer to lawyers and judges in the family law field and has earned the respect and acknowledgment of his peers. Regarded as a leader in the field of family law, Tim is a fellow of the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and former President of that organization in the 2009-2010 term.
